Felling unfolds new trailer ramp

Air Bi-Fold system for loading cumbersome, low-clearance equipment delivers operational ease, limited ground contact

Felling Trailers recently revealed its new Air Bi-Fold Ramp system.

The Sauk Centre MN-based manufacturer planned to showcase the ramp on a 25-ton FT-50-3 LP tri-axle flatbed tag trailer during the CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show in Las Vegas.

“Few manufacturers in the marketplace offer an Air Bi-Fold Ramp system, let alone with the functionality that Felling’s offers,” the company claimed.

A key operational design feature of the flip ramp is that it locks out fully when extending, preventing undesirable scraping or marring of the ground. In addition, Felling’s controlled-flow air ram technology provides for soft ground contact of the ramp, helping keep new surfaces free from damage, Felling said.

Air Bi-Fold Ramps are 45 inches wide and 11 feet long with wood inlay. Previously, Felling only offered air ramps with available lengths of 6 feet and 8 feet. The 11-foot bi-fold ramp was designed to accommodate the necessary angle for loading cumbersome, low-clearance equipment, such as paving equipment and directional drills.

The Air Bi-Fold Ramp’s length provides the operator with a gentler, more gradual incline to provide ease in loading/unloading, with its 9.5-degree load angle and the option of air ride suspension when the air is dropped, the manufacturer maintained.

“Felling’s air-ramp technology allows operators to use the tow vehicles’ onboard air system to power the ramps, eliminating the maintenance of an onboard electric/hydraulic system,” Felling said. “Furthermore, the patent-pending technology allows for minimal ground contact when deploying (or) retracting the ramps to reduce damage to new pavement when loading (or) unloading.”
