Stocks for Yellow Corp., Roadway Corp. and J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. surged yesterday after carriers reported earnings that were better than Wall Street's predictions.
The Dow Jones U.S. Trucking Index was ahead 4% in a more modestly rising U.S. equities market, Reuters reported.
"With truckload and LTL (less-than-truckload) companies both reporting strong results, that may be helping the others," Roadway CFO J. Dawson Cunningham told Reuters. "It's quite possible the March period may be benefiting all of us."
