Ford Motor Co has kicked off a year-long tour of California to promote fuel cell vehicles. This tour, featuring the Ford Focus FCV, is designed to educate the public about fuel cell technology and its benefits. Ford recently delivered the Focus FCV to the California Fuel Cell Partnership in Sacramento CA. Based on the Focus platform, this passenger car has an advanced powertrain. It is also the world's first production-prototype, direct hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle.
A new TH!NK Technologies 53-foot custom-designed air-ride semitrailer will transport the Focus FCV during the tour. The 13.5-ft-high semi with a 450-square-foot interior and a hydraulic liftgate was designed and built by Trailer Technologies Inc of Walled Lake MI. Coordinating the TH!NK tour is Mobility Resource Associates, a mobile tour vehicle, equipment, and logistics management company based in St Clair Shores MI.
The Focus FCV will travel with the custom-designed trailer, which will be used as an interactive display aimed at educating the public about cleaner, safer transportation.
