WABCO's steering tech business recognized for engineering support, responsiveness a 3rd straight year

WABCO Holdings, a supplier of braking control systems and other technologies, recently received the PACCAR Supplier Performance Management (SPM) Achiever Award for its Sheppard steering technology business.

This is the third consecutive year Sheppard, acquired in 2017, collected the honor.

“We are honored to receive PACCAR’s Supplier Performance Management Achiever Award on behalf of our entire team,” said Piotr Sroka, WABCO business leader for global steering. “We continue to build on over two decades of strategic partnership with PACCAR by contributing advanced steering systems to the commercial vehicle manufacturer’s world-class Kenworth and Peterbilt truck brands in North America.”

PACCAR, a global truck manufacturer, annually recognizes its top-performing suppliers in the areas of product development, operations support and business alignment with the truck maker’s objectives. Through the SPM program, suppliers and PACCAR collaborate to identify performance enhancements and develop product innovations. PACCAR selected Sheppard for its engineering support and responsiveness to joint customers.

“We are excited about the heightened levels of performance achieved by our suppliers since we launched the SPM program four years ago,” said Ron Augustyn, PACCAR vice president of global purchasing.

“We appreciate the value created for customers, dealers and PACCAR from continuous improvement initiatives under the program.”

Jon Morrison, WABCO Americas president, said the award demonstrates how WABCO’s portfolio of technologies help improve safety, efficiency and connectivity of commercial vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators.

“The recent addition of Sheppard’s suite of power-steering gears enables the combination of active steering, active braking, electronic stability control and other advanced driver assistance systems to help realize the commercial vehicle industry’s vision of increasingly autonomous driving,” he said.

Sheppard employs approximately 900 people at its US facilities in Hanover PA and Wytheville VA.
