Hendrickson and Mack Defense recently received a contract award from the US Army for PRIMAAX EX suspension systems on all new Mack Granite armored and armor-capable dump trucks.
Bids were submitted beginning in June 2017 and production will continue through May 18, 2025.
“Hendrickson and Mack Defense have come together to provide a complete rear suspension system encompassing the latest in technical innovation to the US Army dump truck fleet,” said Chris Batsch, director of the specialty vehicle business unit at Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems. “Hendrickson’s chassis integration experience, vehicle dynamics expertise and history of heavy-duty suspension design offer the US Army heavy dump truck unsurpassed off-road mobility, reliability and vehicle performance.”
The PRIMAAX EX suspension system provides a rugged, weight-efficient design that delivers advanced suspension technology for the rigorous demands of military applications. The system features a robust structural design with optimized suspension geometry for exceptional stability, handling and equipment protection, the companies said.
Paired with the Mack Defense armored and armor-capable dump trucks, the vehicles will aid the Army’s requirement for dependability and reduced cost of ownership, the companies said. The vehicles will support mobility, counter mobility, survivability and sustainment operations for the Joint Forces as they work in areas of the world with austere infrastructures and little or no host nation support.
