Morgan Olson has been issued a new patent (United States Patent No. 10,081,321 B2) for their new “Spring-Back” front bumper design, the walk-in step van manufacturer reports.
This new bumper design provides key benefits to both large and small fleet owners, according to the company. Specifically, the Spring-Back front bumper provides the typical bumper protection from low-impact impact, front-end contact; however the patented three-piece design absorbs the low-impact and springs back into place following contact.
Additional benefits include replacement cost savings of more than 50%, Morgan Olson adds. Replacing traditional bumpers required replacing the entire bumper. The new “Spring-Back” bumper only needs one smaller section of the bumper to be replaced, thus reducing material costs and repair expenses.
"Providing new intelligent body design features that reduce our customers’ total cost of ownership has many benefits to the entire work truck industry”, says Mark Hope, Morgan Olson’s Vice President of Engineering & Product Development. “Designing new ways to improve our iconic walk-in step van body is no easy task.
“We’ve taken this newly patented product to a new level by putting it through testing to ensure the highest possible quality and performance.”
Morgan Olson recently completed the largest walk-in van single order in American history (over 6,500 package delivery units) that included the newly patented Spring-Back bumper, according to the company.
