CIMC Intermodal Equipment celebrates new HQ

CIMC Intermodal Equipment recently hosted a ribbon cutting and open house to celebrate a new facility that significantly expands the company’s headquarters in South Gate, CA.

“What you saw and experienced today is the reinvention of CIMC Intermodal Equipment,” CEO Frank Sonzala said at the ribbon cutting. “We will place ourselves above all other chassis manufacturers in the USA.”

The event was attended by more than 50 key customers, suppliers and board of director members.
The just completed expansion adds over 50,000 square feet under roof and another 50,000-plus square feet of additional parking space to accommodate CIMC’s growing North American intermodal business.  The new building houses offices for purchasing, human relations, finance and accounting, logistics, sales support, and key executives.
Additionally, with this expansion CIMC IE has added a new educational training center, parts distribution center, and chassis showroom with a central product gallery.  “CIMC is unique in having an indoor showroom that offers visitors a clean and uncluttered area in which to view new container chassis,” Sonzala noted.

The extra space has allowed CIMC IE to improve and re-organize the legacy facility in South Gate to update and enlarge all offices, employee facilities and operations.  A modern, fully-outfitted IT department was added along with a technical center training room and new production support offices. The CIMC IE parts department doubled in size, and re-designed production lines can now produce 100 53’ chassis and 100 marine and various other stock chassis per shift.
“We are all extremely proud of what we have accomplished and certainly appreciate that many of our most important customers and partners were able to attend our open house.  It’s great to show off our new expanded home.”  Sonzala said. “The expansion was necessary as our customer base and product demand continues to grow in North America. We have made this a world-class facility to meet the needs of our customers as well as our employees.”
