Quantum logs ‘largest single order’ for pipeline trailers

Deliveries to Texas-based energy company VoltaGrid are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2024 and run through Q3, the companies report

Quantum Fuel Systems recently received its largest contract to date from VoltaGrid, which will begin taking delivery of Quantum’s VPLite45/40 virtual pipeline trailers for natural gas beginning in the first quarter of 2024.

Deliveries are expected to run through Q3 next year, Quantum reported.

“We place tremendous value on our relationship with VoltaGrid and their continued confidence in utilizing our trailers to transform the world with best-in-class, clean, intelligent energy,” Steve Toelke, Quantum senior vice president and general manager for infrastructure, said in a news release. “Though our two companies have worked together for years, this contract for 2024 delivery represents the largest single order of VPLite45/40 ever placed in Quantum’s history.

“Everyone at Quantum is honored VoltaGrid continues to select our virtual pipeline trailers, and we look forward to continuing our mutually beneficial relationship beyond 2024.”

VoltaGrid, headquartered in Houston, will continue to utilize Quantum’s VPLite45/40 trailers in its work to supply “intelligent, affordable, clean, and turnkey power and fuel solutions” for remote and grid-parallel applications. The VPLite45/40 trailer has a gaseous capacity of approximately 472,000 standard cubic feet and weighs less than 59,000 lbs. fully loaded, Quantum said. The trailers are certified for use in the U.S. and are the leading choice for customers needing a smaller, lighter trailer that is easily maneuvered in tight areas.

“VoltaGrid is excited to expand our CNG/H2 VPL fleet with what represents our largest order ever of Quantum VPLite45/40 trailers,” said Joshua Edge, VoltaGrid VP of transportation. “This purchase will not only ensure that VoltaGrid remains the largest CNG company in the Permian, but it will give us the ability to grow further into other markets.

“VoltaGrid’s committed growth of integrated efrac and power generation services requires a solid partner that provides safe CNG equipment delivered on-time. Quantum trailers have been the backbone of our business, and we look forward to continuing this partnership into 2024.”
