May 14, 2021
Facilities commended for making safety not only a core value, but a top priority in everything they do

Great Dane Jonesboro and Great Dane Huntsville have won awards in the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association’s (TTMA) 2020 Plant Safety Contest, the company reports. Great Dane Jonesboro is the winning trailer manufacturing plant in the large plant category, while Great Dane Huntsville has won in the small plant category.

Great Dane Executive Vice President of Manufacturing Brian Sage commended both facilities for making safety not only a core value, but a top priority in everything they do.

“These TTMA awards recognize the commitment of the entire team at both Jonesboro and Huntsville in not only developing but deepening the culture of safety,” Sage said. “This takes a full team effort from the design of the product and processes, to the training of our teams guided by leaders with a passion about the success of their people and in keeping them safe each day.”

Great Dane Jonesboro employs more than 400 people and went more than 275 days without a recordable injury in 2019-20. Great Dane Huntsville employs more than 125 people and went more than 402 days without a recordable injury or lost time incident in 2019-20.

This is the fourth TTMA Plant Safety Award for Great Dane Jonesboro and the third award for Great Dane Huntsville. Since the competition began in 1971, Great Dane has received a total of 43 awards in various categories.

Like all Great Dane facilities, the plants have implemented many programs in an effort to keep safety as the top priority, including strong Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) programs and the newest safety initiative, the “Think Safety First” program, the company adds.
