Polar King earns ‘brazing’ certification

North American Technician Excellence seal of approval indicates manufacturer’s refrigeration equipment meets stringent criteria for superior construction

Polar King International’s refrigeration department recently earned North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification through the Harris Products Group, ensuring all Polar King equipment and services meet selective criteria for superior “brazing,” the process by which two metals are joined together.

The refrigeration staff completed brazing training this summer, the company said. Each employee gained proficiency in techniques used to prevent refrigeration leaks that can occur with standard brazing, resulting in wasted time and money.

“Polar King prioritizes quality when it comes to our products and construction processes,” said Dave Schenkel, Polar King president. “That’s why we invest heavily in our staff to provide them with ongoing education and access to certification programs to enhance their talents.

“The brazing methods taught by Harris Products Group take advantage of better technologies, improving end-products and reducing future service issues. As a result of implementing (Harris’) ‘Perfect Flame,’ our team now uses ideal torch settings for each type of joint we braze, including different fuel sources.”

Polar King selected Harris Products Group, a subsidiary of Lincoln Electric, due to its scope of products, training, and service, the company said. The Perfect Flame is a system for repetitive, high-volume, hand-held brazing applications that remove flame variability for production.

“Meeting the stringent requirements for the Harris/NATE certifications is another substantiation of our quality commitment,” said Greg Rosenfeld, Polar King quality manager. “All companies under the Polar King International umbrella are passionate about continuous improvement. We are proud of our employees and the hard work they put in to earn this important certification.”
