FABTECH Chicago moves to September to support industry

Nov. 19, 2019
FABTECH’s Chicago IL events are moving to Septembers starting in 2021, organizers say.

FABTECH’s Chicago IL events, previously held every other year in November, are moving to Septembers starting in 2021, organizers say.

The metal forming, welding and finishing event, hosted in odd years at Chicago’s McCormick Place, returns to the Windy City Sept 13-16, 2021, and will remain in September through 2025. The even-year events in 2020, 2022 and 2024 will stay in November, in Las Vegas NV, Atlanta GA and back in Vegas, respectively.

FABTECH is one of the largest events held at McCormick Place, bringing $73 million in delegation spending to Chicago,” said John Catalano, SME’s senior director for FABTECH. “As a result of FABTECH’s growth over the past years, and our favorable relationship with the city and the convention center, we were proud to make this shift to support the needs of the industry.”

FABTECH’s mission is to bring buyers and sellers together in a convenient venue to conduct business, make connections, share ideas and learn from one another. The Chicago-based event takes place over four days and welcomes more than 48,000 attendees and 1,700 exhibiting companies, filling three halls with the latest technology.

“We know the fall is a very busy period for the industry and our exhibitors, partners and attendees plan numerous activities around FABTECH,” Catalano said. “As a result, we felt it was important to give the industry as much notice as possible with regards to our show dates going forward to assist with their planning.”

The dates and locations for FABTECH US for the next six years are as follows:

  • Nov 18-20, 2020 - Las Vegas NV
  • Sept 13-16, 2021 - Chicago IL
  • Nov 8-10, 2022 - Atlanta GA
  • Sept 11-14, 2023 - Chicago IL
  • Nov 20-22, 2024 - Las Vegas NV
  • Sept 8-11, 2025 - Chicago IL

“FABTECH Chicago’s new dates will serve the entire metal fabricating industry better than ever by timing the year’s largest manufacturing event perfectly for new product launches and increasing show attendance,” said Nick Ostrowski, general manager at AMADA NORTH AMERICA. “A September event will change our industry’s buying cycle by offering exhibitors an opportunity to close more business before the end of the year.”

Registration for FABTECH 2020 in Las Vegas opens in spring 2020. Visit fabtechexpo.com for more information.

“The shift in dates in Chicago is beneficial for our industry and a great move by FABTECH,” added Burke Doar, senior vice president at TRUMPF. “The September dates will build more excitement around the show and translate into an even more successful event for everyone involved.”
