GRAPEVINE, Texas—Cummins Inc. revealed the Meritor MFLEX4 air disc brake pad here at Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week. The patent-pending solution has been engineered for durability, versatility and broad fitment coverage for the heavy-duty aftermarket.

“This is a game changer for the industry,” Jason Soika, North American aftermarket general manager – Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems, explained at a Cummins HDAW media event. “It’s a patent-pending design that simplifies service, inventory, and procurement. It fits four of our major competitors’ calipers so, if you're a distributor, this gives you the opportunity to limit the inventory that you need to carry and still service 90% of the rolling fleet in the market today.”

The MFLEX4 pad is designed to fit four commonly used air disc brake caliper models: the Bendix ADB22X, Hendrickson MAXX22T, WABCO MAXXUS, and WABCO PAN22. This compatibility enables estimated coverage of up to 70% of the Class 8 truck and trailer market based on current industry data, with Meritor’s own air disc brakes accounting for another 20%, supporting both linehaul and severe-service applications.

Key features for fleets, distributors

The MFLEX4™ pad is designed to support reduced complexity and operational efficiency across the value chain:

• Simplified inventory: Fewer SKUs to help streamline ordering and stocking.

• Efficiency-focused design: Meritor Positive Pad Retraction (PPR) Springs are designed to help improve fuel efficiency and extend rotor and pad life under typical operating conditions.

• Performance options: Two friction mixes—linehaul and severe service—are engineered to meet or exceed applicable original equipment (OE) pad performance standards.

• Predictable pricing: Uniform pricing across all four caliper applications intended to support cost predictability.

• Warranty coverage: Includes a limited one-year warranty, along with continued Bendix ADB22X caliper warranty coverage.

• All-in-one installation kits: Each kit is designed to include everything technicians need for installation.

Developed by Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems (formerly Meritor), the MFLEX4 pad delivers a combination of broad fitment coverage, performance-focused features, and operational efficiency to support fleet maintenance and parts management, according to the company.

“The MFLEX4 is a technician-friendly solution that directly addresses common challenges, such as fitment complexity, parts proliferation and service efficiency,” Soika said. “By combining Meritor’s OE expertise with aftermarket insights, we’re empowering parts dealers and distributors to streamline their operations and helping fleets maximize uptime with a high-quality, cost-effective product.”

The MFLEX4 pad is available through Meritor aftermarket distributors across North America. To order or learn more, visit MeritorPartsXpress.com.
