Mitsubishi Fuso details FE, FG Series specs

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America’s Leighton Good, a product applications manager, provided a chassis update for the 2018 and 2019 model year Fuso FE and FG Series trucks during his presentation at NTEA’s Truck Product Conference.

The company is carrying over the 2018 chassis specifications for the FE and FG diesel models.

These include a 110.2-inch C wheelbase, 133.9-in E wheelbase, 151.6-in G wheelbase and 169.3-in H wheelbase for the FE 130, 160 and 180, 187-in K wheelbase for the FE 160 and 180, 169.3-in H wheelbase crew cab for the FE 160, 187-in K wheelbase crew cab for the FE 160, and FG 4x4 with a 134.4-in E wheelbase.

Muncie Power Products supplies the aftermarket power takeoff (PTO), which features a maximum intermittent duty torque of 126 pound-feet and maximum continuous duty torque of 88 lb-ft.

For 2017/18 MY Fuso FE/FG diesel trucks, Mitsubishi Fuso added new software for increased idle speed and enhanced reliability, a PCV filter change interval of 30,000 miles, improved turbocharger/waste gate control, electronic two-speed fan control, and a winter package that’s factory installed.

These trucks also feature an enlarged SCR catalyst with an extra brick and premium-grade copper-zeolite material, diesel exhaust fluid cover and tank heater pad, PM sensor and improved harness connectors.

The body builder accessory harness is standard from the 2017 MY.

The 2018 MY 100% electric Fuso eCanter boasts a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 15,995 lbs and wheelbase of 151.6 in. Specifications include a permanent magnet, synchronous AC motor, six Mercedes-Benz lithium-ion batteries, body/payload of 9,380 lbs maximum, and a driving range of 60 to 80 miles.

The chassis features high and low voltage chassis harness and convenient U-bolt positions.

The 2019 MY FE gas-powered truck features GVWRs of 14,500 lbs (FE 140) and 15,995 lbs (FE 160), and the 2020 FE 180, expected to enter production in the second quarter of 2019, has a GVWR of 17,995 pounds.

Specifications include a payload capacity of 11,945 lbs, 33.5-in frame width, 297-horsepower 6.0-liter V8 engine with 361 lb-ft of torque from Power Solutions International, and six-speed Allison transmission.

Chassis specs for the 2019 MY FE gas single- and crew-cab models include a 133.9-in E wheelbase, 151.6-in G wheelbase, 169.3-in H wheelbase and 187-in K wheelbase for the 140 and 160, and 169.3-in H wheelbase and 187-in K wheelbase for the 160 crew cab.

A rear underrun protection device (RUPD) must be installed on the end of the frame of FE gas models for chassis-cab operation on public roadways (until a rear impact guard that meets FMCSR requirements is applied).
