AB Volvo said today it will invest $41.4 million U.S. in a new paint shop and production line at Volvo Trucks' Umeaa cab plant in northern Sweden. The capacity of the plant will be increased from 50,000 to 60,000 cabs annually, the company said. Because of the restrained capacity at the Umeaa plant, Volvo said it has had to import nearly 4,000 cabs into Europe each year from a plant in Curitiba, Brazil. The Umeaa plant supplies cabs to Volvo Trucks' assembly plants in Goteborg, and Ghent, Belgium.
