Complete wheel boxes for mounting independent suspensions were announced at the RAI Amsterdam show by TRIDEC Transport Industry Development Centre BV. To construct a low-floor trailer, the manufacturer can weld the engineered wheel box into the chassis frame. Then such components as ride height controls and air suspensions with stub axles already fitted are assembled to the box.
Typical installations in double-deck trailers have a clear space of 1620 mm (63.8") between wheel boxes, a floor height of 320 mm (12.6"), and road clearance of 220 mm (8.7").
