Stellar Industries Inc will be expanding its facilities by adding approximately 60,000 square feet of manufacturing space in the coming months.

Approval of a development agreement with the City of Garner IA was granted at a city council meeting recently, and Larson Contracting of Lake Mills IA broke ground the next day. The new facility will allow Stellar to expand its production space, update manufacturing processes, and improve current operations.

“Currently we have various manufacturing processes taking place in several different buildings,” said Steve Schnieders, operations manager for Stellar. “By adding this much space at once, it will allow us to bring some of these processes under one roof, making us much more efficient in our production flow.”

The pre-engineered steel building will be 175 feet wide by 350 feet long with 40-foot-high sidewalls that will peak to 48 feet, as manufactured by Butler Manufacturing. The building will incorporate a “clear span” design with no interior columns to interfere with production requirements. The 40-ft height will allow Stellar to install mezzanines to gain floor space for future manufacturing, assembly, or inventory.
