The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has announced an agreement with Cleveland OH-based Tooling University, providing SME members with complete access and discounts to the Tooling U's 60 online learning classes.

Tooling U provides beginner and immediate-level classes in shop-floor basics, machining principles, CNC part programming, metalforming, tool setup and fixturing, and quality assurance. Classes are mapped to the standards established by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS). They round out the SME LearningCenter's product portfolio with its more than 1,100 other courses that cover areas of interest to manufacturing managers and engineers.

The agreement also provides that SME will establish links with Tooling U's web site at www.toolingu.org. This access will provide students an opportunity to join SME and receive its membership benefits, including access to technical information from Manufacturing Engineering and Forming & Fabricating magazines. SME members will be eligible for a 10% discount off the regular price.
