NHTSA issues final rule on annual list of substantially similar vehicles

NHTSA has issued a Final Rule (FR) to correct and amend some aspects of the FR published Oct. 11, 2002 for Reporting of Information About Foreign Safety Recalls and Campaigns Related to Potential Defects. The requirement for manufacturers to submit an "annual list of substantially similar vehicles" that they sell or plan to sell outside of the U.S. was part of the FR published Oct. 11, 2002. The FR effectively makes the list due by Feb. 27, 2003. Companies that have already submitted this list to the NHTSA for the 2003 calendar year vehicles are not affected by the change in due date.
