TBB's 50 years of service brings congratulations

Dear Editor:

As you produce your 50th-anniversary issue this month, we wish to add our sincere congratulations on this significant business milestone. We have long recognized Trailer/Body Builders as the premier publication produced and written for those of us in the business of making truck bodies, trailers, and related componentry. Ya'll have a wealth of talent and knowledge there to not only reflect on the rich past but also to envision and report on our bright future.

Coincidentally, our company turned 100 years young this year, and there's no doubt TBB will hit the century mark too — with its dedication to continued attention to quality, meaningful editorial coverage of our trailer and body industry.

Happy 50th birthday.

Dorsey celebrates second anniversary of renewed production

The ideals of quality manufacturing and customer service have served Dorsey Trailers since its founding in 1911. These ideals are also the cornerstones of production for a new Dorsey. Acquired by Pitts Enterprises Inc in 2007, Dorsey announces the two-year anniversary of the first trailer built under Pitts' ownership.

“We are honored to have Dorsey Trailers as a part of our manufacturing family. Dorsey has been an industry leader since its inception nearly a century ago. We are confident Dorsey will continue that legacy for years to come,” said Jeff Pitts, president and chief executive officer of Pitts Enterprises. “I believe our success through these difficult economic times is a testament to the strength of the Dorsey brand and the quality of the trailers we produce. We would like to thank our customers for their continued loyalty and thank our dealers for their unparalleled support.”

The Dorsey manufacturing plant is an 800,000-square-foot facility in Elba AL.

Dorsey supplies the trucking industry with a variety of trailer designs, including reefers, dry vans, flatbeds, drop flatbeds, extendable flats/drops, wood chip vans, deep-drop vans, mobile classrooms/labs, and other custom transportation products.

Pitts Enterprises also makes and markets heavy truck trailers under the Pitts Trailers and Dynaweld Trailers brand names. The firm has roughly 130 dealer locations in the United States and Canada.
