Kenworth of Newfoundland has moved its parts and service facility in Mount Pearl to a new, much larger location, which triples service department space and quadruples parts department space.
The 35,000-square-foot facility, which is located on six acres at 172 Glencoe Dr. in the Donovan Industrial Park less than a mile south of its previous location, allows Kenworth of Newfoundland to expand its service department from three to 10 drive-through service bays. The department now has ample room for 15 full-time trained technicians to work on trucks and trailers. Each 120-foot long service bay is long enough to fit a tractor and two trailers in a B-train configuration.
A member of the Kenworth dealer network of more than 305 locations in Canada and the United States, Kenworth of Newfoundland is just off the Trans-Canada Highway. It includes a 1,600-square-foot parts display area and a 4,800-square-foot parts warehouse for greater parts availability, and a driver’s lounge where customers can relax while waiting for their trucks to be serviced. One service bay is dedicated to providing Kenworth PremierCare Express Lube services. The dealership offers 24-hour emergency service and operates a mobile service unit.
“When we opened a Kenworth location in Mount Pearl two years ago, the response from the community was overwhelming,” said Larry Murphy, president of Kenworth of Newfoundland. “There are many things happening in Mount Pearl with nickel mine processing activity in Labrador and the Hibernia oil field production platform off the coast of Newfoundland. Demand for quality service and parts required us to move to a new facility where we can provide that parts and service support more quickly and efficiently.”
