James Poole of Newcastle ME has been awarded a United States patent for his invention of a hydraulic steering apparatus that improves safety and efficiency of truck trailers.

With Poole's hydraulic steering invention, trailers can access confined areas in both forward and reverse, saving time in numerous situations. Large tractors no longer need to steer far to the left to complete a right-hand turn. This improves safety on the road while in-cab controls make this steering easy to use. Poole's invention also features a safety lock that enables a driver to use it only at slow speeds.
