Meritor WABCO's latest safety innovations, OnGuard collision safety system and SmartTrac stability control system, have been integrated into transportation fleets including Walmart and US Xpress.

OnGuard is a radar-based collision safety system that can detect objects in a vehicle's path and automatically engage the throttle and engine retarder, and apply the brakes when it senses an impending collision, thereby assisting the driver in avoiding rear-end collisions. This system with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Active Braking assists the driver in maintaining a safe following distance. Plus, it is a Collision Mitigation System (CMS) that detects a potential rear-end collision developing ahead and responds by braking as needed to assist in avoiding a collision. OnGuard is always on, even when cruise control is not engaged.

The SmartTrac family represents ABS, automatic traction control (ATC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Roll Stability Control (RSC). These systems have assisted in reducing vehicle accidents and overall vehicle operating costs. Meritor WABCO has sold about 100,000 SmartTrac systems.
