M H Eby Inc has begun construction of a new plant to manufacture livestock semitrailers in central Iowa. At a groundbreaking ceremony November 4, Eby's ownership and management personnel were joined by local and state officials at the site in Story City IA. Completion of the facility is scheduled for mid-2005.

The new Eby plant will consist of 33,000 square feet of integrated manufacturing space and service bays, along with an administrative office and space for retail sales of parts and equipment. The facility will be on 17 acres of land along Interstate 35 at Exit 24 in Story City, about 45 miles north of Des Moines. Close to major north/south and east/west interstate highways, the site's strategic location will allow Eby to better serve its customers and dealers in surrounding states and throughout North America.

Design of this newest Eby location has been focused on the efficient manufacturing and service requirements of the company's line of aluminum semitrailers for livestock. The plant will produce several Eby products including the Bull Ride cattle trailer and the TransPork trailer for hog transport, plus selected custom units for the region's livestock transportation needs. The facility will also sell the complete line of Eby aluminum truck bodies, trailers, and agri-transportation equipment for livestock, horses, and farm commodities, plus retail parts and accessories.
