The average price at the pump for a gallon of diesel fuel in the U.S. was relatively flat last week, but is 13.4 cents higher than it was the same week last year. According to the Dept. of Energy, the average price of a gallon of diesel is $1.443. The price at the same time last year was $1.309. Drivers in the Central Atlantic are paying $1.590, the highest in the nation, while New England drivers are paying $1.581 and California drivers $1.522. Gulf Coast drivers are paying the lowest average price, $1.375. It is the only region with an average price under $1.40.
