Dana Corp.’s Commercial Vehicle Systems group has introduced a new steer axle family designed for fire and rescue vehicle manufacturers. The Dana Spicer D-2000F fully-dressed steer axle family is now available with both a 3.5- and 5-in. drop beam, providing chassis and suspension profile height options required by fire and rescue applications.

“The Spicer D-2000F 5-inch drop beam option meets the fit-up requirements for a large part of this market,” said Mark Davis, product manager – steer axles for Dana’s Commercial Vehicle Systems.

The axle provides high turn angles of up to 50º, providing the maneuverability necessary in this demanding application. Axle ratings of 16,000 to 22,000 lbs. gross axle weight rating (GAWR) are suited for performance demands of fire truck manufacturers, Dana said.
