THE FIRST CONTAINER chassis made entirely of composite materials was exhibited at the IAA in Hanover by Composittrailer. The company previously had exhibited its movable floor bulk hauler, platform trailer, and high-volume intermodal containers (1700 to 1800 kg [3,750 to 3,970 lb] tare weight for a 40-ft container).

The container chassis includes composite bolsters to which the standard locking fixtures are attached. Models include chassis that can carry a standard 40-ft container or two 20-ft boxes. This chassis has a tare weight of 3,400 kg (7,500 lb). An extension option allows a 45-ft container on board. A chassis for 30-ft liquid or dry tank containers or swapbodies weighs 3,000 kg (6,600 lb). Composittrailer, Industriepark E17/2 Wolfsakker 2, B-9160 Lokeren, Belgium.
