Schneider National Inc., the nation's largest truckload carrier, announced that it has been selected as the For-Hire Fleet of the Year by Fleet Owner magazine.
In particular, Schneider is being honored for its driver recruitment and retention efforts in 2005. This is the first year that the publication has recognized Schneider National since the award's inception four years ago.
Each December, Fleet Owner publishes a special report in which it selects its Fleet of the Year winners across three categories: for-hire, private and vocational. The award recognizes carriers that take innovative, fresh approaches to fleet management. An awards ceremony will be held in March 2006 at the Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville, Ky., to name the winners of each category.
"At Schneider, we have taken a three-pronged approach to address industry-wide issues with driver retention and recruitment by offering more flexible schedules, increasing driver pay and improving driver relations," said Todd Jadin, senior vice president, operations at Schneider National. "The results have been impressive this year - we are enjoying a higher retention rate than both '03 and '04, and we are outpacing the industry considerably in driver turnover."
