Thermo King has launched a new trailer refrigeration unit designed especially for vehicles hauling deep frozen cargo. The new SB-400 is an addition to the company’s SB truckload series of reefer units. Standard features on the SB-400 include an electronic throttling valve for fast pull-down; Thermo King’s MP-VI SmartReefer microprocessor controller for temperature monitoring and diagnostics; the Data Acquisition System, which logs cargo temperatures and unit operating conditions; and the EMI-3000 system, which extends maintenance intervals for oil, oil filters, air cleaners and fuel/water separators to 3,000 miles. Optional features include a remote automatic data retrieval of the R:Com system, an in-cab SmartReefer controller, the PrimAir bulkhead and the FlexAir duct system. According to Doug Lenz, Thermo King trailer product manager, the SB-400 is “a true fusion of power and precision. By utilizing the best available technology for cooling performance and temperature control,” he stated, “the SB-400 provides maximum capacity at all box conditions and the control required to maintain fresh or frozen products at optimum condition.” For more information, go to www.thermoking.com.
