Global truck maker Paccar, which owns the Peterbilt, Kenworth, and DAF truck brands, plans to expand its business in Asia by opening an office in Shanghai, China, in 2007. It will be focused on purchasing production parts for worldwide operations, as well as the sale of Paccar powertrain components to customers in Asia.

"The Shanghai office will complement Paccar's existing sales office in Beijing, China, which has been providing excellent customer support for fifteen years," said Tom Lundahl, Paccar's vp-purchasing. "The rapid development of the highway network in China has generated demand for high-quality, reliable commercial vehicles, so our Shanghai office will enable us to increase our participation in this important market," he added.
