The used truck market appears to moving in the right direction, with Class 8 unit sales improving 6% in October after a lackluster September, according to State of the Industry: U.S. Classes 3-8 Used Trucks, published by ACT Research.
“Pricing continues to be the primary topic of interest in the industry,” said Steve Tam, Vice President-Commercial Vehicle Sector with ACT. “Total reported Class 8 trucks sold in October saw a modest increase over September and also remained positive year-to-date. However, year-over-year pricing experienced a meaningful decline.”
The report from ACT provides data on the average used price for the top-selling Class 8 model for each of the major truck OEMs: Freightliner (Daimler); Kenworth and Peterbilt (Paccar); International (Navistar); and Volvo and Mack (Volvo).
