Diesel price falls for second straight week

The national average price for a gallon of diesel fell 2.1 cents to $2.455 for the week ending Feb. 19, according to the Energy Information Administration. This marked the second consecutive week of price drops, but was still 43.5 cents higher than the same week last year.

Prices fell in all regions but it was the region that needed it the most—California—that saw the biggest break at the pumps as prices fell 3.5 cents. The region still retained its claim for having the most expensive diesel at $2.674, however. Prices were the steadiest in the Rocky Mountain region, falling only 0.3 cents to $2.497. The Midwest region was the cheapest in which to buy diesel at $2.398 after falling 2.1 cents.
