Sloan Transportation Products has awarded the first heavy-duty aftermarket scholarships through a program at Northwood University in Midland MI designated for students pursuing careers in the heavy-duty aftermarket.

The initial recipients of the two $1,000 scholarships for the 2004-05 academic year are Richard Ender, a senior from Portage MI, and Matthew Dorr, a junior from Hemlock MI. Both students are planning careers in the heavy-duty industry.

Applicants for the Sloan scholarship must be enrolled in Northwood's Automotive Aftermarket Management program with an emphasis in either the heavy-duty management or heavy-duty vehicle technology curriculum.
