Lamberet is making important revisions to the SR01, the new generation of refrigerated tractor trailer that was introduced two years ago. More than 2,500 of these units are being built each year. The new revisions were to be made at the beginning of 2003.

One change is a slightly shorter wheelbase in order to comply with recent directives and to reduce the load on the tractor's rear axle. By reducing the wheelbase 300 mm (12") to 7450 mm (293" or 24½ ft), the trailer can legally haul one ton more in those conditions where the load is concentrated in the front of the trailer. This results in lower wear on the tractor rear tires, lower entry fees into countries like Russia, and better compliance in countries where automatic road checks on axle loads are coming into being.

In order to move the 3-axle group forward and still retain a pallet box for 33 pallets, the fuel tank for the refrigeration unit had to be modified. The new tank holds 200 liters (53 gallons), but it is now curved to clear the tractor tires in turns.

Another change is to move the wheels outboard to take advantage of the full 2.6 meter (102") width permitted for refrigerated vehicles. This is 50 mm (2") wider than other vehicles.

Three new interior heights take advantage of new tires introduced to the market. The 2600 mm (102") height uses the 385/65 R22.5, the most common and least expensive of the wide-base tires on the market. Both the 2680 mm (105.5") and the 2750 mm (108") interior height trailers will use the recently introduced 385/55 R22.5 tire. The suspension will be lowered on the 2750 mm height trailer.
