The total number of road-goods vehicles travelling to mainland Europe from Great Britain was 722,200 in the third quarter, a 3% increase compared with the previous quarter and a 4% increase from the third quarter of 2005, according to statistics released by the Department of Transport.
518,300 of this total were powered vehicles, a 2% increase from the previous quarter and from the third quarter of 2005.
The number of unaccompanied trailers, 203,900, increased by 3% compared with the previous quarter and by 8% compared with the third quarter of 2005.
