Navistar used the World of Concrete trade show to announce a number of new enhancements to its International WorkStar and PayStar severe service trucks.
The changes are all based on driver comfort, the company said. In addition, the trucks will utilize Navistar’s MaxxForce Advanced EGR engine solution.
Changes to the WorkStar model include the combination of the 7600 and 7700 models into one model with two variations, the 7600 SBA (46 in. set-back axle) and the 7600 SFA (30 in. set-forward axle. Both models feature a 113 in. BBC (bumper to the back of cab) for increased cooling efficiency. Also offered is a crew cab configuration in heavy-duty diesel models with front axle ratings up to 18,000 lbs. for select applications and an all-wheel drive option up to 18,000 lbs. on front axles on mid-range diesel configurations. Steerable 20,000 lbs. lift axles are now available direct from the factory and aluminum fuel tanks are now standard. The HVAC system has also been redesigned to improve comfort and system reliability.
PayStar models are also seeing a number of changes, including 8,000, 13,200, and 20,000 lb. lift axles direct from the factory. New 10.25 in. x ¾ in. frame rails are standard on the 5900 SBA model, offering vocational frame strength for applications where vehicle weight is important. The PayStar will be available with either a MaxxForce 11 or MaxxForce 13 engines with a MaxxForce 15 arriving later this year.
“We continue to focus on meeting the needs of vocational customers by delivering innovative, best-in-class products for a wide range of severe service applications,” said Jim Hebe, senior vp-North American sales operations.
Also announced at the event was a name change for a recently acquired business unit. Continental Manufacturing Co., which Navistar acquired in December 2009, will now go by the name Continental Mixers, LLC.
Continental Mixers will offer a full lineup of rear discharge mixer products sold under both the Continental Mixers and CBMW Mixers brands. Continental Mixers, LLC will continue to operate independently with operations based in Houston, the company said.
