Wabash National Corp's board of directors has approved plans to invest more than $2 million in a new flexible assembly line to produce aluminum and DuraPlate trailers at the company's manufacturing complex in Lafayette IN.

William Greubel, president and chief executive officer of Wabash, said, “The new production line will be installed during the first quarter of 2003, and will create the needed capacity to support Wabash's focus on the smaller and medium-size fleet market segments. The new line will allow us to focus on process improvements on our other production lines within the Lafayette facility. We anticipate that the majority of the positions for the new production line will be filled internally, as a result of continual lean manufacturing improvement programs.”
