Utilimaster Corporation has acquired certain assets from Union City Body Company (UCBC), a manufacturer specializing in walk-in vans and other service vehicles.
The acquisition includes 200,000 square feet of production and office capacity in five facilities, along with machinery, equipment and tooling, on a 127-acre site in Union City (Randolph County), Indiana, as well as all related intellectual property.
“This acquisition expands Utilimaster’s geographic offering,” Utilimaster President and CEO Larry Doyle said. “These expanded facilities will offer a more efficient manufacturing process with continuously improving quality. We’ll combine the best of UCBC with the best of Utilimaster to offer our customers the highest levels of product design and innovation,”
Future product offerings will be based on the Utilimaster platform, utilizing systems and procedures from both companies, Doyle said.
In addition, Utilimaster will also continue to service the UCBC parts business.
“UCBC has more than 100,000 vehicles in the marketplace,” Doyle said. “Those with UCBC vehicles in their fleets will enjoy the same parts service as our Utilimaster customers,”
Customers wishing to access current UCBC parts should call (800) 588-6264.
