Indalex Holding Corp will invest more than $20 million to install a 6,000-ton UBE extrusion press and related equipment at its Connersville IN facility. It also will more than double the size of the plant by adding a 100,000-square-foot building extension. More than 60 new jobs will be created at the Connersville operation.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp has offered the company $75,000 in training grants and up to $820,000 in tax credits to encourage the expansion. Fayette County officials also awarded the company property tax abatement worth $2.5M over a 10-year period.

The 6,000-ton UBE press will be the largest in the Indalex manufacturing network, allowing the company to offer transportation and distribution customers much larger profiles with a width of 20 inches. Maximum profile cut length will be 60 feet. The press offers another 47 million pounds of production capacity. The investment also includes mechanical assist for lifting heavy extrusions, a quenching system, and flexible packaging and kitting capability.

The building expansion at Connersville will be completed this fall. Indalex expects the new press to be operational by spring 2008.
