Reliance Trailer Co plans to maintain its current Cotati CA headquarters after discussions of relocating the manufacturing portion of the company's plant to Merced CA. A manufacturer of custom-designed transportation equipment for the aggregate, refuse, forestry, and specialized heavy-duty markets, Reliance said the decision to remain in Cotati was based on lack of business demand in the heavy-duty transportation industry.
“The industry we serve will not support the new manufacturing facility that we had been attempting to develop,” said Brian Ling, chief executive officer of Reliance. “Such a facility remains in our long-term business strategy, although it appears it will not be feasible for another three to five years.”
The company had an option to purchase a parcel of land in Merced, but will not be exercising that option.
