KampCo Steel Products announces its 40th year in business, thanks to support of customers, vendors, and staff members. Wayne Kamp founded the company in 1972 with eight employees and a 15,000-square-foot facility. KampCo has grown over the years to an 110,000-sq-ft facility with 40 employees.
Wayne Kamp died in 1987, and Edward Freel, his son-in-law became president. Kamp's son James Kamp was named executive vice-president, and his daughter Susan Freel was named vice-president of administration. KampCo is now a fourth-generation family business. The founder's two grandsons, Brent Freel and Jeff Kamp; and grandson-in-law Jesse Jones are now working with the family business. Two years ago, the founder's great-grandson, Jon Bonfiglio, started work in the sales department.
KampCo's original slogan was “If we can't make it — you don't need it.” But eventually it changed to “We are your supplier, not your competitor.” The focus of the company has always been on customer service, and the main goal is to supply the best-quality parts at competitive prices.
The firm has grown in the fabricating market by upgrading to computer fabricating equipment. It has three CNC Trumpf turret punches, three CNC brake presses, two CNC lasers, and one robotic welder. Other equipment includes brake presses, shears, double action (deep drawing machines), stretch presses (machines for stretching horse and livestock trailer corners and caps), as well as an array of welding capabilities.
