Since launching the new fuel service in 2008, Schneider National has expanded its fleet capacity and extended its service area to include additional locations throughout the Midwest, Southeast and the Southern coast, and is considering additional expansion in the Northeast in the near future.
“Even in difficult economic times, Schneider National continues to grow and expand service offerings for customers,” said George Grossardt, vice president and general manager of Schneider National Bulk. “Hauling fuel was a natural extension for us because of our thorough understanding about moving liquid chemical products safely anywhere in the country. We’re happy to report that one short year later our investment in state-of-the-art equipment and training our best drivers, as well as enhancing our customer service offerings for the special needs of the quick turn nature of the petroleum industry, has resulted in steady growth in both customers and revenue.”
In June 2008, Schneider added GROWMARK, Inc. to its client roster. The GROWMARK System is a federated regional cooperative network that provides agriculture-related products and services to its members throughout the country. Located in central Illinois, GROWMARK needed to add fuel-hauling capacity leading into its busiest season.
“It does me no good to have a carrier that promises me capacity and leaves me high and dry,” said Randy Rote, North Fleet Operation Coordinator for GROWMARK. “Schneider worked with us every step of the way to customize a solution for our business. And those are the kind of long-term bulk carriers we like to grow with and they’ve come through for us every time.”
Schneider’s flexible business model means that there are ample supplies of properly trained drivers and equipped tankers that are and can be deployed in very short order. Grossardt said that the availability of the entire Schneider Enterprise allows them to extend the geographic reach for critical seasonal pushes for many industries with special petroleum delivery needs.
Grossardt also said the company has invested in a dedicated team of fuel professionals solely committed to delivering excellent safety and service to fuel customers.
“Schneider National drivers are screened and specially selected to become fuel haulers,” he reports. “We align their training with specific fuel customers’ needs, as well as the specific racks and lanes they will serve. They must pass certification testing before they haul that first fuel load on their own and receive additional ongoing safety and service training throughout the year. We believe we have the best trained fuel haulers on the road.”
