The American Welding Society (AWS) has published the Specification for Welding Procedure and Performance Qualification (B2.1:2001).

Welders and welding operators for manual, semiautomatic, mechanized, and automatic welding can use this standard to gain welding knowledge for different welding processes. These processes include oxyfuel gas welding, submerged are welding, and several other arc and laser beam welding treatments. Book sections will review technical definitions, safety precautions, test requirements, and other applicable procedures.

This 248-page document costs $90 for AWS members and $120 for nonmembers. The ANSI-approved document is 8½" × 11", softbound, three-hole-drilled, and is available by phoning 800-854-7179 or visiting the AWS web site at www.aws.org.
