Bennett Truck Equipment of Orlando, Florida, has acquired Transtat Equipment, also of Orlando.

The resulting company is now called Bennett-Transtat Equipment. As the name implies, it will combine the resources, personnel, and facilities of the two truck equipment distributorships.

"The big advantage is that it provides us with a lot more capacity," Randy Bennett says. "Bennett Truck Equipment was landlocked. We couldn't expand, and by not being able to expand, we were unable to hire additional mechanics."

The Transtat shop is almost three times larger than the Bennett Truck Equipment facility. Bennett is repositioning people and equipment with the idea of making the Transtat shop the company's primary location for fabrication and the installation of new bodies and equipment. The Bennett shop will be reconfigured to specialize in repairs, parts sales and van interiors.
