Hayes Lemmerz Downsizes

Hayes Lemmerz International Inc, based in Northville MI, intends to eliminate 145 positions, or about 11% of its North American salaried workforce, effective immediately. In addition, the company offered an early retirement option to about 45 salaried employees, which would not take effect until early in 2002.
