The average price for a gallon of diesel nationally increased 0.5 cents last week to set a record high of $2.249, according to the Energy Information Administration. It was the eighth straight week of increases that total 26.6 cents.
Prices in all regions went up. The Central Atlantic and Gulf Coast regions experienced the smallest increases -- 0.2 cents to $2.36 and $2.182, respectively. The Gulf Coast is the least expensive region. California had the largest price hike (3 cents) and most expensive prices ($2.512).
