Last week the national average price for diesel rose to a new record after rising another 4.1 cents to $2.053 per gallon over the previous week's chart-busting prices.
With record high crude oil prices continuing to rise, the Department of Energy cautioned that more record-breakers are possible, even expected, through October.
All regions posted an increase, with the West Coast sustaining the steepest hike, up 6.9 cents to $2.238 per gallon. The Gulf Coast region incurred the most modest increase, up 2.9 cents to $2.00. The Gulf Coast region is also the cheapest to fill up in, while the most expensive prices are once again in California, at $2.29.
