The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee favorably reported S. 2843, the Advanced Vehicle Technology Act, although it tabled the ethanol tax credit termination section.
This legislation, supported by the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA), would create significant research funding and assistance for the development of alternative fuels and advanced driveline technologies specific to medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
Similar legislation introduced by Rep. Gary Peters (D-MI), H.R. 3246, has already been approved by the House.
