Summit group purchases Wiethop Truck Sales

Sept. 12, 2019
Summit Truck Group recently agreed to purchase Wiethop Truck Sales' International dealership.

Summit Truck Group recently agreed to purchase the International Trucks dealership and associated assets from Cape Girardeau MO-based Wiethop Truck Sales.

Wiethop has been a full-service International dealer since 1954, and has been in its current location in Cape Girardeau since 1964. Cape Girardeau is 170 miles north of Summit’s Memphis TN location and 270 miles east of its Springfield MO site.

With the addition of Wiethop’s location, Summit now operates 26 locations in 7 states: Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. The acquisition is Summit’s fourth and is part of the company’s strategy to expand its reach in the various geographical areas in which it does business.

“We are excited to add Cape Girardeau to the Summit family of dealerships,” said Justin Fink, Summit’s chief executive officer. “Its location midway between St Louis and Memphis puts it in proximity to other Summit locations and will help us serve our customers in additional markets.”

As a location of Summit Truck Group, the former Wiethop location will do business as Summit Truck Group of Cape Girardeau, according to Summit. Pending completion of appropriate contracts, Summit will assume operations of the Cape Girardeau location on Nov 1, and its employees will become employees of Summit.

“Summit continues to look for opportunities to expand our footprint in all of the areas in which we do business,” said Scott Gill, executive vice president of finance and accounting for Summit. “We welcome Wiethop’s employees to the Summit family and look forward to continued success in the Cape Girardeau market.”
