Dakota Bodies will expand in Liberty, Missouri, investing more than $21.9 million and creating 172 new jobs, the company recently reported. The expansion is meant to “significantly” improve the facility’s overall manufacturing capacity and customer experience.

“Dakota Bodies’ expansion in Liberty is another strong example of a strategic investment that’s driving Missouri’s economy forward,” Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe said. “With more than $21.9 million invested and 172 new jobs being created, this project brings meaningful opportunities to hardworking Missourians and reinforces our state’s reputation as a place where businesses can grow and succeed.”

Dakota Bodies is doubling the size of its manufacturing footprint in Liberty to support its long-term commitment to growth. The facility’s upgrades include advanced laser cutting technology, state-of-the-art metal forming capabilities, and enhanced power coating systems.

These improvements are designed ensure faster production, shorter lead times, and more consistent customer delivery. This expansion is a direct response to growing demand from the company’s distributor and fleet partners, according to Dakota Bodies.

“At ATW Truck Equipment, our goal is to lead the industry in quality, innovation, new products, and the fastest lead times, while continuing to invest in a best-in-class work environment for our team,” said Braden Edwards, SVP and GM of parent company ATW Truck Equipment. “This new facility strengthens our ability to deliver on that commitment—giving our customers faster lead times, greater capacity, and a more reliable partner as they grow their own businesses.”

The ATW Truck Equipment family of brands also includes CM Truck Beds, PJ Truck Beds, and Warrior Truck Beds.

“Dakota Bodies’ decision to expand in Liberty and create 172 new jobs is a strong win for the community and a testament to Missouri’s skilled workforce and pro-business climate,” said Michelle Hataway, director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. “We’re proud to partner with local leaders to support this incredible growth that will deliver meaningful impact for families in the Liberty area.”

For this expansion, Dakota Bodies will benefit from the Missouri Works Program, a tool that helps companies expand and retain workers by providing access to capital through withholdings or tax credits for job creation. Dakota Bodies is estimated to receive $1,385,828 through the Missouri Works Program subject to verification of program requirements.

“Liberty is the most aggressive city in Missouri and Kansas for attracting and retaining jobs. Our tax incentive program has produced $2.5 billion in private sector investment and created more than 7,000 jobs in our targeted industries,” said Liberty Mayor Greg Canuteson. “We are excited that Dakota Bodies chose to invest and expand in Liberty over cities in Texas and look forward to our partnership in the future.”
