The Godwin Group's newest company, Williamsen-Godwin Truck Body Company in Salt Lake City, is constructing a $5-million, state-of-the-art powder coat paint facility.
Williamsen-Godwin will break ground on the new facility in March, with an estimated completion date in July.
The facility will be a fully automated powder coat operation comprised of a Wheelabrator shot blaster, primary powder paint application booth, secondary zinc powder primer application booth, and high temperature cure oven. The system will mirror those already in place at sister companies Godwin Manufacturing in Dunn, NC, and Galion-Godwin Truck Body Company in Winesburg, OH.
The addition of the new facility with dramatically increase production and overall quality of Williamsen-Godwin products.
Assets of Williamsen Manufacturing Company were purchased by The Godwin Group in April 2014. The company, originally founded in 1892, now operates as Williamsen-Godwin Truck Body Company. Williamsen quickly underwent a $4 million retooling and facility improvement initiative. As a result, Williamsen-Godwin's growth exploded by nearly 500% in less than a year. Employment also doubled to keep up with demand.
The Godwin Group had plans from the beginning to invest in a new paint operation at the Salt Lake City facility, but was content to wait several years for business to gradually increase. The business growth wasn't as gradual as expected, with private, state and municipal orders almost immediately hitting the shop. Management quickly decided that it was essential to Williamsen-Godwin's continued growth to go ahead and build the higher volume powder paint facility.
